A Rare Snow Day at the Lake!

Snow Day at the Lake!

A rare snow day at the lake in the south is nothing short of magical. As the first light of morning filters through the windows, the landscape outside is transformed into a pristine winter wonderland. The lake, usually rippling and alive with reflections, lies still. Evergreens surround the property, their branches heavy with snow, creating a hushed and serene atmosphere. It’s the kind of silence that invites you to slow down and appreciate the beauty of the season.

Flowers and candle with a snow day background

Inside, the house is a cozy retreat. A crackling fire in the stacked stone fireplace fills the room with warmth, while the smell of freshly brewed coffee mingles with the faint aroma of pine from the Nest candle.

Bundled in soft blankets, we watch snowflakes through the large picture window, painting the world outside in shades of white. Even the dog finds its spot by the window, a perfect picture of winter bliss.

As the day unfolds, outdoor adventures beckon. Max races into the snow-covered yard to paint the white snow yellow. 🤣 He has always loved snow and blends into the background. He races around with a skip in his step until his paws get cold. We retreat back inside, my cheeks flushed and heart full.

It’s a Georgia Thing

The Snow Day forces us to be home because in Georgia, when it snows the state stands still. The snow will be gone in a day or two because the sun will come out and the temperature will skyrocket.

For now, we will enjoy the beauty and remember how good we have it. In Georgia, we get all four seasons but they are not extreme, except for the brutally hot and humid summer.

Since it is winter, go to the Days of Summer Post and warm up with ideas to prep for the warmer months.

For now, we will embrace the cold and the beauty of a rare snow!

If your winter lasts a little longer than ours in the south, here is something that might lift your spirits. My sister introduced me to a delicious smelling laundry detergent. It is pricey, but there are ways to make it last. I use my regular unscented detergent and add a tablespoon of DIVA to the load. It mutes the scent a bit which I like because strong scents overwhelm me. The fragrance is divine. 😜
