Transformation of the Front Door ~ Quick Photo Op!

Old Front Door with Transoms on the side and above the door

The transformation of our front door deserves a quick photo op! The entryway into our home is evolving. The transformation of the front door is epic. I am sharing a quick photo op!

We installed beautiful new French doors. Previously, the entryway featured a single front door framed by narrow transom windows on the sides and above. Replacing the old setup with full-length French doors has opened up the space, allowing more natural light to flood the interior.

The new doors perfectly fill the original footprint, giving the entrance a grander, more inviting feel while maintaining a seamless connection with the home’s original architecture.

We enhanced the fresh look by installing brand-new outdoor lights that cast a warm and welcoming glow across the entryway. The updated lighting brings a touch of elegance and ensures the space feels safe and beautifully illuminated at night. Almost finishing off the space, we added a plant near the doors. The natural element softens the area and adds warmth and hospitality to our refreshed front entrance.

The Reality of Patience

Updating our home has been a slow and meaningful journey, built on patience, hard work, and a deep respect for the process. Over the years, we’ve done much of the work, learning and embracing the imperfections. Every update, no matter how small, results from careful planning, late nights…here and here, and plenty of trial and error. We approach each project knowing that true craftsmanship takes time and that progress often comes in inches, not miles.

Staying on a budget is a constant part of our story, and it’s taught us to be resourceful and creative with our choices. This home has been 30 years in the making and reflects a lifetime of evolving styles, needs, and dreams.

The photographs I take to document our progress are simple and far from professional. However, they capture the heart, effort, and love that has gone into every corner. Our home isn’t about perfection; it’s about the journey we’ve taken together and the quiet pride to make a home where all feel comfortable.

About the photographs, another before and after is on the horizon. As you will notice, the decking leading into the home is not exactly pretty. In normal times, the wood would be pressure washed and stained. Why is this not normal times, you ask? Because our entire deck needs to be replaced. 😳

Bad news, good news. The bad news is the deck needs replacing because it has been 30 years. $$$$. UGH.
The good news is a new deck.😉
