The Office
The Home Office Makeover
I did not immediately plan this room, but it is one of my favorites!
Why Now?
Total surprise.
Guess what? Taken from my Inspiration Post, the desk is what inspired my excellent new office!
I had my eye on a Pottery Barn Desk forever, and then it wasn't available, dadgum. I found one from Wayfair. It is equally as good, less money, and gorgeous! I waited and took advantage of the Way Day Sale. I am very proud of my patient self! For once, I followed my advice from Decorating 101.
Home Office Makeover
Here is the complete makeover for this room!
The configuration is the same. It's an odd-shaped space for an office. This room was supposed to be the Master Closet. When we built the house, we moved the Master Bedroom upstairs to the lake side of the home. We made this area an office and the adjacent room a den😉, or family room.
The feng-shui office setup has always been in my head, and I finally positioned the desk accordingly. According to Feng-Shui, the desk is supposed to face outward.
The Hutch behind the desk worked brilliantly and creates a space I love.

My favorite authentic paintings were all in large gold frames. I don't have as much wall space in the lake house as the Johns Creek house, so I had to improvise.
I removed the canvas's from their frames and now display them frameless on my shelving.
Repurposing the floating shelves worked out. It's not my favorite edit, but I dealt with the mistake I made early in the remodel process.
Had I known the shelves were going in the office, I would have chosen a different size and color. It was an expensive mistake, and I am living with it.
The designated office area was on the back burner during the lake home remodel. However, I could not get the Pottery Barn Alexandria desk out of my mind. I was beyond frustrated it was no longer available. When the Way Day Sale hit, I immediately bought a similar desk, and the office makeover became a surprising reality.

While living at the Johns Creek home, the desk faced the wall. Hindsight would have me using a desk facing outward, but that was not a priority during those kid-rearing days.
