Losing Weight and the Struggle ~ Here is an Idea

Healthy Eating Avocado Toast

My answer to losing weight and the struggle is NOOM!

What is Noom

NOOM is a weight loss program.

Let me explain.

Most people would look at me and think I do not need to lose weight. Wrong. As we age, everything changes. I will not bore you with this fact and my story, but it is true.

The reason I looked into NOOM was to learn how to eat healthily. Please understand this is a follow-up to the Off Topic Post I wrote titled DO NOT DIET LIKE ME.

Fritos and Coca Cola Diet

As a result, I knew what to do without NOOM. I knew but could not execute it because I lacked food awareness. I have never cared about healthy eating habits, and I want to eat what I want and try to run it off. It does not work like that, especially now that I am a little older. 🙃

I finally decided to commit to losing a few pounds because I was not disciplined. One of my best friends had great success with NOOM, so I invested.

Noom! A Great Weight Loss Program

NOOM begins with weighing in every day. One must get on the scale. I do not get on the scale. I have always been able to tell my weight based on how my clothes fit. My clothes had become very snug, and I was over it, so I signed up for NOOM.

The First thing I had to do was get on the scale. Understood. I joined NOOM to lose 7 pounds. I know that does not sound like much, but I felt that is what I needed to get to my ideal weight.

Panic set in when I got on the scale, and the 7 pounds I needed to lose to get to my desired weight was 12 pounds. Whoa! I knew I was heavier, but Whoa. I tried to explain to myself that I had been working out more, so that must be the reason because muscle weighs more than fat, right? Nice try. Nope. I felt like a lard. It was time to commit.

The education has been excellent. I am learning about eating healthily. For seven weeks now, I have eaten better than in the last several decades.

About four years ago, I did Keto and felt great, but Keto messed me up. There are foods I did not think I could ever eat again because of the amount of carbohydrates. Wrong. Everything I avoided on Keto, I now eat every day. Apples. Grapes. Tomatoes. Daves Mulit-grain Thin Bread. I eat fruit and vegetables every day.

The main advantage of NOOM is you can have a weak moment and snap it back immediately. With Keto, you have to be 100% committed with zero hiccups. Very difficult. I think my cholesterol was off the charts on Keto, but I did get thin.

Losing Weight & My Water Intake

Again, I am seven weeks into NOOM and am down 8 pounds. Eight pounds on me is not noticeable. I gain weight in layers, and that is why it is okay for me to have a 12-pound goal. I have been hovering at the 8 pound mark and still have 4-5 pounds to reach my goal. There have been several events and travels keeping me in this range. Trust me when I tell you I make way better choices than if I were not doing NOOM.

One of the best choices I make is to drink water. I have removed all drinks that are not good for me, except maybe beer.

To help me drink more water, I bought a Stanley Cup. [This page includes affiliate links ~ my full Disclosure Statement can be found HERE]. My husband mocked me about this cup until I told him I had a Stanley Cup, and he did not. Touche.

According to NOOM, I still have another two weeks to attain my weight goal. NOOM said I would achieve this on that date. I am doubling down to ensure I get there. Stay tuned.

It is all about intake! I have to focus, and I limit what enters my mouth. It is not easy. I struggle every day with this because exercise alone is not the answer.

Go back to the old days when calorie counting was all the rage. If you need help, sign up for Noom. It costs money, but it is a game changer and is a healthy alternative. I have learned how to eat better. If I overdo it, I can snap back quickly.

The beer is always the issue, but I am more disciplined with my choices, kinda.
