Girls Bathroom Transformation

WHAT COMES TO MIND?

SHREK? KERMIT? JOLLY GREEN GIANT? JUNGLE LOVE?

NEED I GO ON?

Let's Go Back To The Beginning

It's okay; we only lived with it for 20 years. To be fair to me, as I beat myself up for my epic fails in the patience department, hello? Patience on steroids. During those 20 years, I was kind of busy with 4 kids, travel hockey, a move to a different house and a few other things. My point here is don't get too frustrated while looking at your home and wishing it could all happen over night.

Life gets in the way a lot.

Try not to feel like it all needs to be done in a snap to make you feel more organized and comfortable. You can chip away at things along the way to feel accomplished. Give yourself a break.

I had a ton of overnights with my girlfriends at this lake house as is, and I don't think anyone cared about the leprechaun-inspired bathroom.

BEFORE & AFTER

Girl's Bathroom Reveal!

Guest / Secondary / Girl's Bathroom

Can We Get an Amen?!?

The Before Girl's Bathroom

Let me preface this with the paint color was a mistake. While nesting in preparation for our first daughter's arrival, time was of the essence, and the clock ran out, end of story.

I am quite clever with my before pictures. It looks like I asked my girls to put every toiletry they own on the counter in the before picture.

After months of hemming and hawing about the behind-the-toilet decor, I finally pulled the trigger, yay me! I found affordable floating shelves. After the debacle with the first set of floating shelves I bought, I had to get this right.

The Tower behind the toilet serves as an extra space for our daughters to put all of their products. By the way, this is one of the toilet towers our girls used in college so it was not an extra expense.

The After Girl's Bathroom

The vision for this bathroom appeared when I found the exact bathroom I loved on Pinterest. What made it the most fun for me was going back to blue. I have always loved blue.

This photo was taken while no one was home to use this bathroom. Truth be told, not an honest image of life, but it sure is pretty.

I bought the floating shelves from Wayfair-Birch Lane, and they are great. I do not receive any affiliate incentive for these, so take my word. If you see the temporary solution below, you will understand my euphoria about these shelves.

Having the sheet mirror cut to go all the way to the ceiling is one of my favorite happenings in my bathrooms. All of our Secondary bathrooms are small so the larger mirrors are key!

Girls Bathroom Shower Trim with Accent Window

I love the tile selection for this bathroom. It is a very popular subway tile and the accent window thassos tile breaks it up to make it unique. The shower is spacious enough for all who use it.

The Niches

I did not realize the subway tile would not work for the niches. I would have preferred the niche tiles to be all white, and the background tiles and the shelf tiles to be all white. Our fantastic tile installer inquired as to whether or not we had leftover large, white tiles from our other projects and we did not. He used what he had and it worked out fine, but I understand it would have been better to have all white. Live and learn.

Girls Bathroom Shower with Accent Window

The Girl's / Guest / Secondary Bathroom has turned out great. When guests spend the night, I am not quite as embarrassed as I used to be before the remodel.

The shower trim is Brizo. Everything in this bathroom is Brizo including the faucet I added to the vanity. I came close to making a mistake with the faucet but lucked out.

The Niches, Part 2

The shower is a bit small for a shower bench. As a result, I chose to add a large niche with a shelf and a lower niche to offer a foothold for our girls and others to shave their legs. This is a great alternative to a bench. My favorite influencer recommended this edit and I am so grateful because it is a cool thing. My girls love it and the shower has plenty of space. I also made sure our large shampoo bottles would fit the niche. Details.

I have said this many times on my Blog, please make sure you have superb subcontractors. Our glass and tile installers were top-notch and thought of everything.
