Renovating Our Den: A Cozy Transformation
The Den, Is It Still Called That?
We recently renovated our Den. It has become one of our favorite spaces in the house. The project started with a fresh coat of paint on the walls, giving the room a clean and inviting look.
We reused furniture from our previous home, giving it new life in a new setting. To tie everything together, we chose new wall art and incorporated my favorite lighting fixtures and accessories, blending comfort with personality.
New Hardwood Floors ?!?
We installed beautiful hardwood floors that instantly elevated the feel of the space.
Because we refinished the hardwood floors in the kitchen, foyer, dining, and great room, we decided to complete the look in the Den.
We removed the carpet and VOILA...beautiful floors!
The Pantry Makeover
One of the more practical upgrades was converting the existing closet into a pantry, complete with a closet system to maximize storage and functionality.
One of my favorite touches is the neutral, updated shag rug we selected—it adds warmth and softness to the room without overwhelming it. We even found a matching version for the office area, creating a seamless flow between the two spaces.
The small office nook also got a thoughtful makeover. With a few smart updates, we turned it into a highly functional workspace, proving that even compact areas can be stylish and efficient.
The lake-themed decor throughout the home was carried into the Den with personalized art pieces that helped the room feel connected to the rest of the house while still having its own identity.
A new ceiling fan was a must. The Kichler ceiling fan is updated, and the brass is gone.
Now, the Den is a cozy retreat from our otherwise open-concept home. With doors that can be closed for privacy, it's the perfect spot to work, relax, watch TV, or take a quiet phone call. Whether or not it’s still technically called a "Den," it has become a meaningful and functional addition—one that brings balance, comfort, and charm to our home. Have you ever turned a small room into a favorite space?
